That's a wrap 2023!
About
About Katie Perrone, PT, DPT
I became interested in physical therapy after sustaining many injuries as a kid playing sports. I found it fascinating that I could come in barely walking and be completely okay within a few weeks. I have been a doctor of PT since 2014, after graduating from the University of Hartford. I have worked in many settings and with many types of clients, which has helped me find to find my passion for helping people to reach their full potential through PT. I have been focused on manual therapy and a holistic approach to PT. My goal is to look at the whole body and the whole picture so that it is always working as efficiently and strongly as possible. My goal as a PT is to help each person individually, to live pain free, reach the goals they want to reach, and live their life without limits! In my free time, I love to be with my nieces and nephews, run, lift weights, and am big into photography!
Non-insurance based PT
Live Without Limits is a non-insurance based physical therapy service, that allows treatment to occur in a one on one setting with your physical therapist every time! Each PT visit allows us to talk and do an assessment of how things have been going for you since your last PT visit, where you are feeling pain (if any!), what your current limitations are, where you are in relation to your goals and where you want to be! You will also get to communicate with your PT in between sessions if you have any questions or anything comes up, that way there are no surprises at the next PT visit and we get you to your goals quicker!
Services
Mysofascial Release
A type of manual therapy that releases restrictions such as trigger points, muscle tightness and soft tissue dysfunction that cause pain and limits motion. Myofascial release focuses on
the fascia, which is what surrounds the muscles, nerves, vessels, and bones. Many factors can cause fascial restrictions and MFR helps to decrease pain and increase mobility. The goal is to elongate and return fascia to its normal state, freeing up restrictions and relieving pressure.
Soft Tissue Mobilization
A type of manual therapy that helps to address an injury such as sprains, strains, tendonitis,
bursitis, and stress injuries. It helps to improve pain, muscle weakness, decreased range of
motion, and changes in muscle length. It aids in relaxing tense muscles, reducing scar tissue,
and stretching and lengthening fascia to improve range of motion. Stainless steel tools can
also be utilized to help to mobilize soft tissue in a different approach with the same results.
Manual Stretching
Stretching helps to keep muscles flexible, strong and healthy. By remaining flexible, we also
maintain an appropriate range of motion in each joint. Stretching helps to release tension
from the muscles, joints, and tendons. Stretching is placing the body into specific positions
that will lengthen the muscles and soft tissues to achieve optimal length and decrease overall
muscular tightness and adhesions. During manual stretching your physical therapist will stretch the affected area for you to help to achieve optimal length of each muscle addressed.
Joint Mobilization
A type of manual therapy that utilizes skilled graded forces to move the joint in a specific
direction. This is similar to a stretch but it focuses on the joint capsule itself, and not the muscle. The goal of joint mobilization is to improve motion and the function of the joint and to normalize overall movement.
Client Education
Every session we will talk about the things that we are focusing on in our PT/wellness session
and what the purpose of your exercises are outside of it. My goal for you is to make sure that
you have a great understanding of what your treatment is and WHY. I want you to have an understanding of why these things are important and why they are helping you to reach your
goals. Did you think of a question after your session? That’s okay, you can reach out in between and I’m happy to answer for you!
Home Exercise Programming
Part of physical therapy is doing the exercises outside of your PT visit so you can reach the
highest level of progress and carry over your gains and progress into your daily life. Each person is provided with a specialized home exercise program, tailored to their specific needs, based on where their current progresses have been made and where limitations have remained. Your home exercise program is updated accordingly to help you to reach your goals as quickly as possible.
Wellness Program
Once you have reached your initial goals with PT you can continue with a PT wellness program where we will continue to work with you to help you to not only maintain your pain free living, but also prevent future pain or injuries from coming up. Here at Live Without Limits, you won’t ever get “cut off” from treatment because of insurance restrictions, and you will get better than just "good enough"!
Functional Assisted Stretching Program
This is one of our newest wellness services that we offer! This is not classified as a skilled physical therapy service, but it is so important to have a skilled physical therapist to complete it for you so you don't get it injured! This stretching program focuses on maintenance of mobility and flexibility, addressing areas of restriction, overall wellness, relaxation, and can be used in addition to your current PT and wellness routines!
